Win tickets to see Giants vs. Dodgers + a HDTV

Giants are giving away tickets to see the Dodgers go up against them this Summer. You’re also entered to win an HDTV just for signing up! (cool happy face if it exists) You only have to enter your email address, and you can enter once a day to increase odds, so it’s a pretty sweet find.

There’s another contest on there that lets you make a wish for a Giants game (really any fantasy you can think of) and hope it comes true- a little harder to enter but both pretty cool opportunities. Good luck!

Someone fell below .500. They have 3 games to get it up or they'll be relegated to the Central division.

I'm curious to know if anyone else is going through the same thing I am. I'm pulling for the Dodgers to win the division, yet at the same time, I want everyone in the NL West to do well against the other divisions. Mostly I think it has to do with last year's dubbed "NL Worst" division and reclaiming the reputation of one of baseball's finest. This has caused some interesting problems because even as hot as my Dodgers have been (11 of their last 14 I believe), it has only been good enough to get them out of a tie with last to 3rd place. How competitive do we have to be and how many teams do we need above .500 for people to forget all about the 2005 disaster? No other division sees a team drop 3 games in a row and fall from 1st to last.

Rick Sutcliffe intoxicated on-the-air (Funny)
Former major league pitcher and Padres broadcaster Rick Sutcliffe paid a visit to his old broadcast partners at Channel 4 San Diego last night during the Brewers-Padres game. He and actor-comedian Bill Murray were in town together and it sounds like they had a few too many in the Gaslamp Quarter.

A live interview on the air with Sutcliffe was cut off suddenly and awkwardly when Sutcliffe started slurring his speech like Anna Nicole Smith at a Chico State kegger.

Here's an article .... with link to audio.

Sutcliffe made Joe Namath's "MNF" interview seem sober and eloquent by comparison.

Guess who blew a seven-run lead?

Edit: Heck of a game. Arizona had come back from down 7-0 to take a 9-7 lead late.... and Giants just came back to tie it in the 8th inning.

Did anyone else think it was complete bullshit that Hamulack got tossed for "drilling" Barry Bonds in that depleted uranium plate he has on his elbow? Like anyone has the stones to be plunking Barry Bonds in retaliation for anything. I know the umps have a job to do but lets be realistic, if that was a message pitch, it sure was a weak message.

Could it be?
Are the Rockies the team to beat in the West????????

They're healthy and clearly they know how to hit the ball. They won't NEED decent pitching if they keep scoring like this.

Or is this just a REALLY bad homestand for the Padres?

2006 Season starting soon
I would like to see my Rockies do well this year. It would be great to see them have a year injury-free for one thing, do better on both the road and at home, and have a decent pitching staff...what more could a Rox fan ask for?

I wish each team in the NL West the best...and may the best team take the division in '06 :)

Current Mood: contemplative

I'm looking for about 10 or 11 of you people for a favor.

Over last Summer, I was gauging how a relationship with a girl would continue or end with a trip to the Dodger game. I hate the beachballs, and hate it when people talk incessantly about other things when I'm at a game (okay, so I'm a complete dick).

...that relationship didn't last. Hehe...

Now, I've started a Yahoo Fantasy Sports League.

This league was really designed as a way to get my new romantic interest to do something she never has done before (which is actually a lot, but we'll start small). In this league, there are 16 spots still available.

What I'm looking for are 10-11 (or maybe a few more) inexperienced fantasy players that don't care if they do poorly (I'm trying to boost said girl's confidence.... I already have one of my best friends, [info]bease, helping her out).

Help a transplanted Dodger fan out. (oh, and let's not our personal team preferences get in the way. I want to have fun with this.

The league ID is: 51522
League Name is: Chico League
Password is: bidwell

Said girl's team is the Barry B Sex Slaves (.....she did that just to make fun of me). Be gentle.

Have fun.

Oh, and thank you very much for considering.

Hope in Colorado? (Time to talk baseball again!!)
It's almost time for pitchers and catchers to report (yay!), and all major sports publications are coming out with their predictions for 2006.

There's plenty of debate over who could win the West this year, about whether the Padres are prepared to defend their title, about the health of Barry Bonds, and about the myriad of moves the Dodgers have made this offseason. Seems like evrybody's got their opinion about which team really has a chance to come out on top.

But look at any preview of the NL West and there seem to be two major points everyone agrees on:

1) The NL West is baseball's weakest division.

2) The Colorado Rockies are going to finish dead last again.

Am I the only one here who thinks the Rockies shouldn't be taken lightly? I think they have a chance to surprise people if Helton returns to form and the team stays healthy.

Hey, they weren't all that bad last year, and if this really is baseball's weakest division, how come everyone is so quick to write off Colorado?

So here's my (hypothetical) argument: The Rockies will not be the worst team in the division this year. Discuss.
